About me and my practice
I'm a registered person-entered counsellor with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I have been working with people for over 30 years. It's where my passion lies. It's been there in my role as a residential care worker and as a carer supporting people in my community
I've worked with many individuals facing various situations that made them seek counselling services over many years. Over and above my professional experience, I've raised a family and have a good deal of life experience. It helps bring perspective to life's challenges.
Experience
I focus my counselling on adults with addiction issues, alcoholism and substance dependence. I work with people suffering from anxiety, grief, or difficult family situations. I also work with related issues.
Addictions
I have over twenty years of experience working with people who have addiction issues. I have seen the devastation it can have on a person's life. For many people, there is an underlying issue that has led them to addiction. This could be an experience of trauma or negative changes in your life. Understanding the causes of addiction, and addressing these issues is an important part of your recovery.
I can help you address the causes of your addiction to help you stop your addictive behaviour. Addictions can touch all aspects of your life your health and well-being your work your
relationships and affect you socially.
Anxiety
I am well acquainted with working with people who have anxiety. I understand that anxiety can negatively impact a person's life. Anxiety is a natural response in people facing uncertain and sometimes threatening situations. Having an experienced, knowledgeable and compassionate counsellor to help guide you through your anxiety can be immensely helpful and have a direct and positive impact on your quality of life and mental well-being.
Complex family dynamics
My background of working in children's residential settings developed my awareness of how complex family dynamics can be. This experience has made me a considerate and patient person. My experience of working in close contact with those who have first-hand experiences with family issues has given me a unique understanding
Bereavement I have many years of experience working with clients who have experienced difficulties with bereavement. Grief can shake everything up your beliefs, your routines, and even your sense of normality. Working through bereavement is accepting what happened, and learning to adjust to life without that person.

I adapt my sessions to support my client's specific needs to make effective positive changes in their lives.

Initial Consultation
For me, the most important thing in any counselling relationship is trust and rapport.
For counselling to help, there has to be a connection of trust. Without that connection, you're unlikely to feel free to talk openly.
